Behind The Scenes:
With Humidors of Perception, I focused on the memory of my first trip to the cigar shop and the way my hair, clothes and skin smelled as I exited the walk-in humidor: the honeyed nuttiness of tobacco leaf oil on my fingertips, the bittersweet cocoa of Oscuro cigars, and walking past the wall of pipe tobaccos while wafts of cigar smoke spiraled through the room.

I took that memory and chucked it in a time machine dialed to 1967, where the sounds of electric guitars and Farfisa organs were drenched in a haze of reverb, Jim Morrison could be seen in countless photos smoking cigars, and Aldous Huxley’s thorough essay on mescaline use for treating psychological ailments was considered light reading.
